RULES AND GUIDELINES
Floats will be judged in the following categories: Comic, Fancy, Original, Religious, and Youth. If it is in your best interest, please initial where indicated on the float application to have your category changed. Also note that when your category is changed, we go by the description given on the application. Please be detailed as to what the theme is. We want to award as many prizes as possible but need your clarity to help us.
Dance Academies/Dance Troupes are in a separate category and scored against each other NOT against the floats. Please limit any parade routine stoppages (except by the judges stand). The gaps created cause people to roam through the parade because they see a clear spot.
Floats shall not exceed 13 ft in height, due to over head power lines.
NOTHING is to be distributed by anyone participating in the parade. This means passing out along the curb, as well as, tossing from a vehicle or float. This is a safety precaution so no one is injured.
In accordance with the By-laws, “no unlicensed operator of mini-bikes, mopeds, go-carts, ATV’s, or golf carts are to participate in the parade unless authorized by the committee.” If you do not have prior consent, you will not be eligible to participate with the aforementioned motorized vehicle(s). If you have been pre-approved to use the equipment, proper safety equipment must be worn. Any dangerous activities will result in IMMEDIATE ejection from the parade and disqualification of the entry.
Also in accordance with the by-laws: “There shall be: no political sponsoring of candidates for upcoming election, no advertising or stickers on floats. Anyone running for political office may not promote themselves in the parade for political aspirations. A float may be entered with no political advertisement, except that the float is being sponsored by a political party.”
Please be sure to fill your application out completely and accurately. The length of the entry is to include any vehicle that may be pulling your entry. These figures are marked out and you are given that much space for you entry. If you are not certain, please measure before you submit your application.
